Advances in Endovascular and Open Vascular Neurosurgery: AIS Management and the Role of Physiologic Imaging - Enduring Only
This activity will provide an update on the management of Acute Ischemic Stroke (AIS) following the 2019 AHA/ASA guideline revisions, with a focus on the role of physiologic imaging in patient selection, particularly in extended time windows. The session will also explore emerging innovations in endovascular neurosurgery, including brain-computer interface technologies, Vivistim rehabilitation strategies, and advances in the management of carotid disease and subdural hematomas. Learners will gain insight into how these developments may influence clinical decision-making and improve neurologic outcomes.
Target Audience
- Physicians
- Physician Assistants
- Advanced Practice Nurses
- Registered Nurses
- Licensed Practical Nurses
Learning Objectives
Learners will be able to:
- Summarize physiologic imaging findings to guide patient selection for acute ischemic stroke intervention in both immediate and extended time windows.
- Differentiate between clinical exam findings and imaging results to prioritize high-value care decisions in AIS management.
- Identify emerging technologies in endovascular neurosurgery, including brain-computer interfaces and adjunctive therapies such as Vivistim, and describe their potential impact on neurorehabilitation.
- Describe evidence-based strategies for managing carotid disease and subdural hematomas using advanced endovascular techniques.
