Tech Troubleshooting: Making EEG Artifacts a Thing of the Past

December 3, 2026

Accurate EEG interpretation depends on the ability to distinguish true cerebral activity from artifact. This session will review common EEG artifacts, techniques for differentiating cortical and artifactual waveforms, and practical troubleshooting methods to reduce or eliminate interference. Participants will also explore artifacts and waveform changes associated with activation procedures to improve recording quality and diagnostic accuracy.

Target Audience

  • EEG technologists

Learning Objectives

Learners will be able to

  • Differentiate cortical EEG activity from common artifactual waveforms.
  • Apply troubleshooting techniques to identify, reduce, and eliminate EEG artifacts during recordings.
  • Recognize artifacts and waveform patterns associated with EEG activation procedures.
