Thanh Nguyen, MD
Dr. Thanh Nguyen is the Director of Interventional Neurology/Neuroradiology at Boston Medical Center and a Professor at the Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine. She is the first woman to serve as President of the Society of Vascular and Interventional Neurology (SVIN) in its 17-year history.
Dr. Nguyen earned her medical degree from McGill University and completed her neurology residency and fellowships at Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women's Hospital, and Centre Hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal. She has performed over 3,000 interventional neuroradiology procedures, including more than 500 brain aneurysm interventions and 400 acute stroke interventions.
Her clinical and research interests include acute endovascular therapies for stroke, brain aneurysm coiling, and flow diversion. She is the Principal Investigator of the CLEAR study and has co-led global studies on the impact of COVID-19 on stroke care. Dr. Nguyen has authored over 500 peer-reviewed publications and serves as Associate Editor of Stroke.
She has held various roles within SVIN, including Research Chair and Secretary, and has been recognized as a Fellow of both SVIN and the American Heart Association. Dr. Nguyen has received numerous awards, including Boston Magazine Top Doctor, the Be Exceptional Award, and the SVIN Distinguished Service Award.
