The purpose of this journal club is to summarize the 2023 Pediatric and Adult Brain Death/Death by Neurologic Criteria (BD/DNC) Consensus Guideline and highlight the key updates from the 2010 American Academy of Neurology (AAN) brain death/death by neurologic criteria (BD/DNC) guideline for adults

Learning Objectives

The learner will be able to:

  • Identify the criteria for brain death testing including the minimally acceptable observation period.
  • Identify which ancillary tests should be performed and under what circumstances.
  • Discuss a brain death neurologic exam, including apnea test.
