Physicians who primarily see adults lack comfort in how to assess, diagnose, and manage acute mental health needs in the pediatric population.
Learners will be able to:
- identify subtle, yet crucial differences in assessment of mental health needs in pediatric versus adult patients
- identify differences in diagnostic criteria between adult and pediatric patients with mental health needs
- identify differences in mental health management strategies between adult and pediatric patients
- relate comfortability with providing care to children and adolescents with mental health needs
