2025/2026 - Neurology Essentials - Dizziness, Vertigo, and Imbalance: A Rational, Rapid Approach for Non-Neurologists

Join Dr. Jiaying Zhang, a board-certified vascular neurologist, for an in-depth session on evaluating dizziness and vertigo. This webinar will cover modern diagnostic frameworks, bedside examination techniques, and practical algorithms to differentiate peripheral and central causes. Through real-world case studies, participants will learn how to avoid common pitfalls and improve diagnostic accuracy in acute, episodic, and chronic vestibular syndromes.

Target Audience

  • Physicians
  • Residents

Learning Objectives

Learners will be able to:

  • Classify vestibular symptoms using the International Classification of Vestibular Disorders (ICVD) and recognize patterns across acute, episodic, and chronic syndromes.
  • Apply practical diagnostic frameworks such as TiTrATE and ATTEST to integrate history, timing, triggers, and targeted examination findings.
  • Perform and interpret key bedside tests, including HINTS/HINTS+, head impulse test, nystagmus assessment, and Romberg to distinguish central from peripheral causes.
  • Identify red flags and appropriate imaging strategies for suspected stroke, structural lesions, or other central etiologies in patients presenting with vertigo or dizziness.
  • Develop management plans for common vestibular disorders such as BPPV, vestibular neuritis, Ménière disease, vestibular migraine, and persistent postural-perceptual dizziness (PPPD).
